Puzzle & Dragons Z (3DS)

I’ve posted a little about this before, but not for a while. I’ve haven’t stopped playing, it’s just… there’s been some repetition. For much of the game there isn’t a great deal of grinding, although perhaps I’ve been lucky and just levelled up the most suitable of my dragons by random chance. Then I reached the end of game boss, and whereas almost every other enemy in the game can be wiped out in just a couple of turns by …

Street Pass Puzzle (3DS): COMPLETED!

Yes, it’s a game. You have to play it, it can be completed, therefore – it’s a game. FACT. So you “play” it by walking around with your 3DS hoping to bump into other people who have puzzle pieces you don’t have, or use the “coins” accumulated from walking to buy random pieces. Eventually, with luck and sore feet, you get all the pieces for all the puzzles. Like I did today! Yay!

Puzzle Quest (Demo) (360)

I really enjoyed Puzzle Quest on the DS, but part of what made it so great was the DS itself. It was portable, easy to turn on for just a quest or two, and had touch control which makes a lot of sense with this game. The XBLA version isn’t bad. It can’t be – it’s almost exactly the same game – but it isn’t right. I can’t bring myself to buy a game I already have in a form …

Super Puzzle Fighter II Turbo HD (360)

Super Puzzle Fighter II Turbo HD Fun Fact #1: Completing “Y” Mode on Hard is impossible. In fact, just defeating the first character is impossible.Super Puzzle Fighter II Turbo HD Fun Fact #2: Getting the “destroy a 25-gem block in Arcade Mode” achievement is also impossible, as if you play it on Easy or Normal, the CPU character dies before you get there, and if you play on Hard or Expert, you die before you get there.

Super Puzzle Fighter II Turbo HD (360)

Played quite a few games with my wife, winning about as many as I lost. Also had a try at some of the other game modes. “Y” is more like Columns, in that you have to get lines of three or more rather then groups of gems which you then trigger. It was OK, but not as good as X or X’ modes. “Z” is similar to Hexic, sort of, in that you rotate blocks of four to make groups, …

Super Puzzle Fighter II Turbo HD (360)

Who needs a demo version, eh? I just stumped up the 800 points without even trying it first. That’s how much I knew it was going to be ace. And, of course, it is ace. At least as ace as the Saturn version I’ve been playing recently, but in lovely smooth HD and with online play for up to four players. It’s like Super Puzzle Fighter II Turbo X ++ Alpha HD really. Or something. First up, I played three …

Puzzle Quest (DS): COMPLETED!

Today started with having to find some herbs for the High Elves, and then progressed onto killing Lord Bane’s three (rather easy) Generals, followed by a Deathknight and then an Iron Golem (both quite easy too) before finally “fighting” Lord Bane himself. With an alarming about of HP (three times what I had), it was somewhat nailbiting at the end as we were both on around 30HP, there were red skulls galore on the grid, and it was my turn. …

Super Puzzle Fighter II Turbo (Saturn)

Played this some more with my wife. I realised (or rather, re-realised) what the “Counter Gem” pattern does. It’s the pattern of gems that fall on your opponent’s screen when you send gems their way. Knowing the pattern your opponent has chosen is handy, and you can actually use it to your advantage by placing gems in places where counter gems will land and match up. Cunning!

Oekaki Puzzle Battle (DS)

Completed a few more Super Hards this evening. About five of them, in fact, none of which were especially difficult. In fact, one of them had 5 of the 16 squares completely filled. So much for “Super Hard”, eh, readers? That leaves me just 9 left to complete before I’ve done them all. ACES.
